The City of Oakley is one of California's youngest cities. Situated in East Contra Costa County in the San Francisco Bay Area, residents enjoy a charming area with an abundant housing supply, quality schools, and a friendly atmosphere that truly make Oakley, "A Place for Families in the Heart of the Delta."
Today a landscape of gently rolling fields, orchards, and vineyards gives us a glimpse of Oakley's agricultural past. From a quiet Delta farming town, Oakley has blossomed into a growing community of landscaped parks, abundant recreational opportunities, shopping centers, and planned business and commercial development.
Request Fee Schedule
The City of Oakley is more than just business-friendly. With City staff and City Council supportive of new growth and quality development, Oakley is not only business-friendly, but also development-friendly. Oakley has streamlined the permit approval process, so that in most cases, a conditional use permit and design review is completed in one step through the City Council. Oakley has also reduced development impact fees as an incentive to promote new development. This illustrates Oakley's commitment to be a permit-friendly city as well.
Current and Future Development
Oakley has the room and willingness to grow, with over 800 acres of land zoned for commercial, retail, light industrial and tech flex. In addition to commercial development, construction of new residential homes is back underway with over 450 homes anticipated to be built in 2016 and over 275 homes anticipated to be built in 2017.
