City Description

The City of Poway is one of San Diego County's major employment centers in the areas of high tech, clean energy, and unmanned (aerial and underwater) systems. The Poway Business Park is home to several manufacturers and employs approximately 17,000 people. Poway is known as a family-oriented community, the City has recently been rated the “Best Place to Raise a Family in Southern California.” Poway has the second highest median household income of cities in San Diego County and is consistently ranks as one of the safest cities in California and the safest city in San Diego County. The quality of public education is nothing short of excellent. Dedicated to providing powerful 21st century learning experiences, the Poway Unified School District has gained statewide and national recognition for excellence in curriculum and teaching methods. Furthermore, access is quick and convenient to many outstanding universities, including University of California at San Diego, San Diego State University, California State University San Marcos and the University of San Diego. Poway provides an ideal business location with easy freeway access from I-15 to the west, the 67 corridor to the east. The widening of I-15 and construction of commuter express lanes has reduced commute time’s significantly improving access and convenience from communities to the north and south to Downtown San Diego. In fact, the I-15 widening project was recently named the state’s “Freeway Project of the Year” and “Transit Project of the Year.” In addition with the completion of the 56 freeway, Poway now benefits from direct access to coastal communities and connections to the I-5 and I-805 corridors.
