Steamboat Springs is located in northwest Colorado approximately 160 miles northwest of Denver. The City is situated approximately 6,800 feet above sea level on the western slope of the Continental Divide. The City was established in 1900 as a center for mining, agriculture and tourism. The community has since evolved into a world-class vacation and tourism center and is home to the Steamboat Ski Area with over 1 million skier days per year. Steamboat Springs and Routt County are also known for its incredible scenery and outdoor recreation opportunities. The current year round population is approximately 12,000.
