The City of West Covina was incorporated in 1923 and has grown dynamically since its inception. Its original 507 residents has grown to a population of over 110,000 with over 3,400 businesses.

The City of West Covina has very exciting projects and development taking place in the community. The City’s General Plan Update is well underway. Included in the General Plan update is the plan for the creation of a Downtown for the city. Shaped by the collective vision of the community, the Downtown Plan advocates for a new urban form that is pedestrian friendly.
Two projects that will take shape in the Downtown District are the Colony at the Lakes development, a mixed-use complex comprised of 450-unit luxury apartments with 20,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, and the opening of a Southern California favorite, Porto’s Bakery and Café, which will be located in the heart of the City and will serve the greater San Gabriel Valley.
