The City of La Verne is proposing a new Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District (EIFD) to assist with financing needed infrastructure to support future development adjacent to the new Gold Line station. The proposed EIFD would spur development consistent with the Old Town La Verne Specific Plan ("Plan"). The Plan was adopted in 2014 after a multi-year process involving the community and local stakeholders in order to address La Verne's future near the planned Gold Line Station.
The proposed EIFD encompasses 100+ acres and is generally bounded by Bonita Avenue to the north, LA County Fairplex to the south, B Street to the west, and N. White Avenue to the east. Currently, the proposed EIFD area consists of industrial uses, vacant lots, and aging commercial structures. In order to incentivize private investment and spur new development, the EIFD is anticipated to support approximately $35 million in much needed infrastructure projects, including but not limited to: transit infrastructure around the Gold Line; connectivity (sidewalks/bridges) to the Gold Line station; utility upgrades and undergrounding; parking structures; water, electrical, and sewer; and roads and streetscape improvements.
